Distracted driving is classified as any action which takes your mind and eyes off of the road, as well as your hands off of the steering wheel. These dangerous habits of multi-tasking while driving are constantly played out every single day. Drivers can unintentionally become distracted by their surroundings, the passengers in the car, or picking something up off the car floor; to the more intentional activities such as texting, talking on the phone, or changing the radio station. With our growing reliance on technology, cell phone use is one of the leading cause of injuries and fatalities in distracted driving. However, we must remember to emphasize the risks and dangers associated with other forms of distracted driving. Safely driving a motor vehicle should not be a secondary task.
